Asian stock markets closed mostly lower Wednesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost 34 points to finish at 11,566. The average plunged 192 points on Tuesday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 14 points to end at 13,426. The Hang Seng fell 185 points on Tuesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index lost five points to close at 2,123.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bombay and Manila. Markets were lower in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 107.27 yen, up 0.11 yen from the same time Tuesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold fell 70 cents to close at 426 dollars, 65 cents an ounce.
