Pakistan's Musharraf Brings 'Message of Peace' On India Visit

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf says he is bringing a "message of peace" as he begins a two-day visit to India that will include talks on the disputed Kashmir region.

General Musharraf spoke to reporters Saturday after worshipping at a major religious shrine, the tomb of a 12th-century Sufi Muslim saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisthi in the northern Indian town of Ajmer.

He said he prayed for peace between the two nuclear-armed rivals, adding that peace is essential to the development of both India and Pakistan.

General Musharraf is expected to hold at least three meetings with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh -- and to meet with political leaders from Indian Kashmir.

He also plans to watch a cricket match between the two countries' national teams on Sunday in New Delhi.

India and Pakistan have twice gone to war over Kashmir.
