Asian stock markets closed mixed today-Wednesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 10 points -- a fraction of a percent -- to finish at 10,835. The average lost 121 points on Tuesday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost a fraction of one percent-40 points to close at 13,627. The Hang Seng lost more than one percent-199 points on Tuesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index dropped .72 points to close at 2,154.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Manila, Seoul and Sydney. Markets were lower in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Taipei and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 107.49 yen, up .31 yen from the same time Tuesday
In Hong Kong, the price of gold fell 70 cents an ounce to close at 419 dollars, 85 cents an ounce.
