Asian stock markets closed mostly higher today-Friday, following gains on Wall Street.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose a fraction of one percent -20 points, to close at 11,300. The Nikkei fell slightly on Thursday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, ended a touch higher - four points, to finish at 13,819.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Bombay, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington. Shanghai shares ended lower.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 107.80 yen in Tokyo, down 0.48 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo, and below its late Thursday New York level of 108.27 yen.
The price of gold in Hong Kong rose five dollars and 60 cents to close at 423 dollars and 15 cents an ounce.
