European share prices are higher in midday trading today - Friday.
London's Financial Times index is up 31 points at 5,040. The CAC-40 in Paris is 36 points higher at 4,189, and the DAX index in Frankfurt is 33 points lower at 4,595.
The S&P futures contract is up more than two points, indicating a higher opening for U.S. stocks.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 143 points to finish at 11,304. In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index closed up 36 points at 13,935.
The price of gold in London is 422 dollars and 75 cents an ounce, up two 55 cents from late Thursday.
The dollar in London is lower against other major currencies.
