Forbes Lists Most Powerful Women

An influential U.S. business magazine has named Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice the most powerful woman in the world.

Forbes released its list of the world's 100 most powerful females Thursday -- with two world leaders, an entertainer and the wife of the richest man on earth among the top ten.

In second place is China's Vice Premier and Minister of Health Wu Yi. Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko ranked third on the list, with Philippine President Gloria Arroyo directly behind in fourth place.

Sri Lanka's President Chandrika Kumaratunga is listed as the world's 25th most powerful woman, with Bangladesh's Prime Minister Khaleda Zia four spots behind at 29.

Nobel Laureate and detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi of Burma holds 15th place. Another Nobel Laureate, Kenya's Deputy Minister of the Environment Wangari Maathai, comes in 68th place, while Mozambique's Prime Minister Luisa Diogo holds the 96th spot. Dropping off the list this year were former Indonesian President Megawati Sukarnoputri and Indian Congress Party leader Sonia Gandhi. Forbes says it bases the rankings on visibility and economic impact.
