Spokesperson of the National League for Democracy U Lwin told VOA that he was not overly optimistic that immediate results would come about because of Pinheiro’s mission to Burma, nor did he think the ruling military will take his proposal for ICRC monitoring of human rights allegations carte blanche. However, U Lwin said, he appreciates Mr. Pinheiro’s efforts which he knows are sincere and well-meaning.
