The National League for Democracy (NLD), led by Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, celebrated National Day on November 29th at NLD headquarters in Rangoon.
National Day is the anniversary of the boycott against the 1920 Rangoon University Act which was seen by the Burmese as a move to restrict higher education to a privileged few.
NLD spokesman U Lwin told VOA's Burma Focus about the celebration.
In addition, the leader of the Military Government issued a statement and opposition groups also addressed National Day.
