Suu Kyi Complains About Stalled Talks In Burma - 2003-04-23

Burmese opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi says the country's military government is not interested in reconciling with the pro-democracy opposition.

The Nobel peace laureate told reporters today (Wednesday) in Rangoon that if the military government is truly interested in the welfare of the country, it should start cooperating with her National League for Democracy.

The United Nations brokered historic talks between the government and the opposition in 2000, but negotiations have failed to move past the confidence-building stage.
