India's vice president is in Burma for five days of talks with the country's military leaders.
Bhairon Singh Shekhawat met Monday in Rangoon with the leader of Burma's military government, Senior General Than Shwe. Indian officials say Mr. Shekhawat invited the Burmese leader to visit India.
Details of the talks have not been released, but Mr. Shekhawat was expected to discuss economic and trade issues with Burmese leaders.
On Sunday, Burmese and Indian officials signed an agreement on visa exemptions for officials and diplomats of both countries.
