Twenty four years ago 16 Burmese gathered at a Washington DC Sri Lanka monastery to form a Buddhist association that would serve a small Burmese community.
On Sunday August 22, the Burma-America Buddhist Association inaugrated a $360,000 newly built meditation hall in Silver Spring, MD.
The grand opening ceremony attracted 350 devoatees. 15 Sanghas, including monks from Thai, Laos and Sri Lanka gave sermons. The religious ceremony was followed by free food bazaar and live entertainment.
