The final statement after the biennial summit of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) failed to demand Daw Aung San Suu Kyi's freedom by name, but the European Union denied it had backed away from a clash with its Asian partners. And says it will tighten sanctions on Burma starting from Monday, 11 October.
