European share prices are lower in midday trading Wedesday.
London's Financial Times index is down 19 points at 5,281. The CAC-40 in Paris is 18 points lower at 4,418, and the DAX index in Frankfurt is down 30 points at 4,887.
The S&P futures contract is down three points, indicating a lower opening for U.S. stocks.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 29 points to finish at 12,502.
But the Hang Seng in Hong Kong lost 100 points to end at 14,874. The price of gold in London is $438.25 an ounce, down 45 cents from late Tuesday.
The dollar in London is higher against other major currencies.
