U.S. stock prices declined on Tuesday. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 24 points to close at 10,913. The S & P 500 was down six points to finish at 1,219 and the NASDAQ dropped 17 points to end at 2,074.
European share prices were also lower at the close. London's Financial Times index fell 16 points to end at 5,011. The CAC-40 in Paris dropped 23 points to finish at 4,085, while the DAX index in Frankfurt declined 32 points to hit 4,397.
The price of gold rose nearly six dollars, trading at 440 dollars and 40 cents an ounce in New York.
The dollar is down against the yen and the euro in New York.
