Thailand's army chief says there appears to be no tension among Burma's ruling generals. General Chaisit Shinawatra gave his assessment of the state of affairs in Burma at a news conference in Bangkok Wednesday following a two-day trip to Rangoon.
The Thai armed forces chief said he had met with all 17 members of Burma's ruling military junta and detected no turmoil.
He said poor communication between the two governments may have contributed to speculation about political trouble in Burma.
Rumors of what goes on in Burma, a closed state that has been under military rule for more than 40 years, frequently surface through Thai politicians or Thailand-based exile groups.
Rangoon has been awash with conspiracy theories about the death last month of an aide to a top junta leader.
