Asian stock markets closed mixed Wednesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index fell 45 points to finish at 11,602. T
he Nikkei rose more than 14 points on Tuesday. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 20 points to close at 14,015. The Hang Seng fell 21 points on Tuesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index dropped eight points to close at 2,155.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Jakarta, Manila, Seoul, Sydney and Taipei. Markets were lower in Kuala Lumpur and Wellington.
The U.S. dollar was selling lower against the yen in late regional trading.
The dollar was trading at 104.99 yen in late Tokyo trading, down .05 yen from the same time Tuesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose 60 cents to close at $425.05 an ounce.
