Six North Korean defectors are being held in Burma for entering the country illegally. Reports said the North Koreans had been traveling with a Korean-American pastor whose whereabouts are not clear.
The Associated Press quotes a South Korean embassy official in Burma as saying Seoul has asked Rangoon to hand over the detainees.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency says the North Koreans are on trial and awaiting a verdict.
