European share prices are lower in midday trading Monday.

The S & P futures contract is up just over one point, indicating a slightly higher opening for U.S. stocks.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange's Nikkei Average lost 74 points to finish at 11,850 points.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, rose slightly (16 points), to finish at 13,907.
The price of gold in London is 442 dollars, 78 cents an ounce, down three dollars, 15 cents from Friday.
