Malaysia's Deputy Prime Minister says Burma will be invited to the East Asian Summit Conference in December.
But Najib Abdul Razak said Thursday that Malaysia hopes Burma will undertake democratic reforms ahead of the meeting.
Mr. Razak said he wants to see positive developments in Burma, where a military junta has refused to recognize the 1990 general election result, preventing the National Democratic League, led by Nobel Peace laureate Aung San Su Kyi, from forming a democratic government.
Aung San Su Kyi has been under house arrest for more than a year.
