Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Friday, with the key market in Tokyo climbing on late bargain hunting.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose 0.5% (55 points) to close at 11,724.
The Nikkei gained nearly 1% on Thursday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, slipped slightly (26 points), to finish at 13,491. The Hang Seng rose a fraction of one percent Thursday.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Bombay, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney and Taipei.
Wellington shares fell marginally.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 107.53 yen in Tokyo, up 0.57 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo, and above its late Thursday
