U.S. stock prices made strong gains Thursday as oil prices declined.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average moved up 60 points to close at 10,546. The S & P 500 gained seven points to reach 1191 and the NASDAQ moved up 20 points to reach 2,019.
European share prices also gained for the day. London's Financial Times index advanced 30 points to end at 4977. The CAC-40 in Paris rose 17 points to finish at 4124, and the DAX index in Frankfurt moved up 10 points to hit 4390.
The price of gold is down almost a dollar, trading at 425 dollars and 90-cents an ounce in New York.
The dollar in New York is lower against the yen but gained in value compared to the euro.
