Asian stock markets closed mixed Thursday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost 16 points to finish at 11,811. On Wednesday, the average gained 53 points.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 40 points to end at 13,602. The Hang Seng rose 49 points on Wednesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index rose 11 points to close at 2,176.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Jakarta, Seoul, Shanghai and Sydney.
Markets were lower in Bombay, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Taipei and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 108.24 yen, up 0.18 from the same time Wednesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose 60 cents to close at 426 dollars, 85 cents an ounce.
