Asian stock markets closed mostly higher Friday, with the key market in Tokyo rising following gains on Wall Street.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose a fraction of one percent 64 points, to close at 11,875. The Nikkei dropped slightly on Thursday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, closed slightly higher 64 points, to finish at 13,667.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington. Markets closed lower in Manila and Bombay. Jakarta shares finished flat.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 108.65 yen in Tokyo, up 0.41 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo, and above its late Thursday New York level of 108.60 yen.
The price of gold in Hong Kong fell one dollar and 60 cents to close at 425 dollars and 25 cents an ounce.
