Burma's number two leader has urged the country's newest army officers to crush destructive elements.
Deputy Senior General Maung Aye addressed the graduates of the Defense Services Training School in Bahtoo Monday. He urged the cadets not to be misled by rumors.
Maung Aye said negative elements in Burma are trying to block the military junta's plans to build a peaceful, modern and developed nation.
Burma's military rulers often use the phrase destructive elements to refer to supporters of detained pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
