Markets across Asia closed lower today/Friday, following much weaker than expected quarterly earnings from IBM and Samsung Electronics.
Tokyo's Nikkei Stock Average was the worst performer, slumping 1.7 percent to close at 11,371. It was the Nikkei's worst week in four months.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index dropped 134 points to close at 13,639.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index fell 18 points on a volume of 664 million shares to close at 2,150.
Following New York's downturn Thursday, share prices also fell in Jakarta, Manila, Seoul, Wellington and Sydney. Thailand's exchange was closed.
And in Hong Kong, the price of gold fell more than five dollars an ounce to close at 423 dollars.
