A former European Union president says he is concerned about the political situation in Burma and wants to see real progress toward democratic reform in the country.
Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen made that remark after holding talks in Thailand with Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra.
Burma is set to assume the rotating chairmanship of the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 2006.
The United States and the European Union have threatened to boycott further ASEAN meetings if Burma takes the chair before enacting political reforms.
