U.S. stocks are trading higher after a series of strong earnings reports offset investor fears that inflation may be increasing.
The Dow Jones Industrial average was boosted by excellent earnings reports from Intel and Caterpillar that helped investors shake off worries that consumer prices are accelerating.
The Dow Jones was trading 29 points higher at 10,166 while the S-and-P 500 was a point higher at 1,154. The technology heavy Nasdaq index was up 13 points at 1,946.
Stocks were mixed in Europe with London's Financial Times Index down slightly to 4,847, while the CAC-40 in Paris was up 11 points at 3,973 and Frankfurt's Dax Index was up 11 points at 4,215.
Earlier in Tokyo, Japan's Nikkei Average finished 23 points higher at 11,089.
Gold was holding steady at about 433 dollars-an-ounce while the dollar strengthened slightly against the euro.
