Asian stock markets closed mostly higher today-Friday, with the key market in Tokyo rebounding following a surge in U.S. markets.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose nearly one percent-62 points, to close at 11,046. The Nikkei shed nearly one percent on Thursday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, gained nearly one percent-96 points, to finish at 13,694. The Hang Seng rose nearly one percent Thursday.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bombay, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington. Stocks closed lower in Bangkok, Shanghai and Singapore.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 106.73 yen in Tokyo, down 0.24 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo, and below its late Thursday New York level of 106.82 yen.
The price of gold in Hong Kong rose 30 cents to close at 433 dollars and 55 cents an ounce.
