A bomb has exploded in a busy market in Burma's second largest city, killing two people and injuring 16 others.
Hospital officials in Mandalay said the explosion occurred on the ground floor of the Zay Cho market just before closing time Tuesday.
Further details about the attack were not immediately available.
The blast comes less than a week after Burmese officials confirmed an attack by ethnic Karen rebels on a convoy of trucks and buses in southern Burma, killing eight people.
Mandalay, located 550 kilometers north of the capital, Rangoon, is the cultural and commercial hub of the military-run country.
