Asian stock markets closed mostly lower today-Tuesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost 1% 122 points to finish at 10,825. The average fell 102 points on Monday.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost more than 1% 200 points to end at 13,667. The Hang Seng fell a fraction of 1% 101 points on Friday. The market was closed on Monday for a holiday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index fell half a percent 11 points to close at 2,154.
Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Bangkok, Jakarta, Seoul, Sydney, and Taipei. Markets were higher in Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Shanghai, and Wellington.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 107.18 yen, down .49 yen from the same time Monday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold closed at 420 dollars and 55 cents an ounce, down $1.20 from Friday.
