Asian stock markets closed mostly lower today-Friday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost one-third of a percent-40 points to finish at 11,037. The average was up sharply on Thursday, gaining two and a quarter percent-242 points.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index was up a fraction of a percent -18 points to finish at 13,717, after gaining one-half percent Thursday.
Elsewhere, share prices were lower in Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila, Taipei and Seoul; markets were up in Jakarta and Bombay.
In Tokyo, the dollar was at 107.51 yen, up .39 yen from the same time Thursday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold fell one dollar and 20 cents to close at 420 dollars, 75 cents an ounce.
