Burma's ruling military government has awarded a Singapore company a 10-point-six million dollar contract as part of an expansion project at Rangoon's international airport.
CNA Group Limited has signed a contract with the Ministry of Transport to design, supply, and install 24 engineering systems for the airport's new and existing terminal buildings.
The systems include a baggage handling system, security check equipment and an airport docking guidance system. CNA says Rangoon's airport will have an extended terminal area, including a new VIP building, and a departure hall capable of handling more than two million passengers a year.
The company says the upgrades at the airport should be completed by mid-2006. It is part of Rangoon's preparations to host next year's ASEAN summit meeting.
