The European parliament has condemned Burma's military government for human rights abuses and the detention of pro-democracy activist Aung San Suu Kyi.
European Parliament President Josep Borrell on Monday again appealed for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and other political prisoners and said the parliament expressed "total condemnation of the abuses of the Burmese regime."
Aung San Suu Kyi's continuing detention and the ruling regime's refusal to begin democratic reforms continue to draw international criticism and economic sanctions.
The Nobel Peace Prize laureate turns 60-years-old later this month-June 19th.
