Asian stock markets closed mostly lower today-Tuesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost 53 points to finish at 11,217. On Monday the index lost 29 points.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index lost 26 points to end at 13,834. The Hang Seng rose 42 points on Monday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index rose five points to close at 2,207.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bombay, Kuala Lumpur, Sydney and Wellington. Markets were lower in Jakarta, Manila, Seoul, Shanghai and Taipei. The market in Bangkok ended unchanged.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 106.79 yen, down 0.5 yen from the same time Monday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose one dollar and 90 cents to close at 426 dollars and 95 cents an ounce.
