Burma and China have celebrated the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the Asian nations.
Chinese President Hu Jintao says Burma was among the first countries to recognize the People's Republic of China upon its founding in 1949.
Senior General Than Shwe, Burma's military leader, says several cooperative ventures have increased the bonds of friendship between the two nations. General Than says the anniversary will elevate their existing relations.
