Asian stock markets closed mostly higher today-Friday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index rose more than one percent - 143 points, to close at 11,304. The Nikkei lost about one percent on Thursday.
Hong Kong's key index, the Hang Seng, gained a fraction of one percent - 36 points, to finish at 13,935.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Taipei. Prices ended lower in Bombay, Shanghai and Wellington.
The U.S. dollar was quoted at 107.54 yen in Tokyo, up 0.29 yen from late Thursday in Tokyo, and above its late Thursday New York level of 107.49 yen.
The price of gold in Hong Kong fell 40 cents to close at 423 dollars and 25 cents an ounce.
