Asian stock markets closed mostly higher today-Tuesday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index gained 100 points, nearly one percent, to finish at 11,514. On Monday the market fell 123 points 1%.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose 111 points or nearly one percent to end at 14,287. The Hang Seng lost 54 points on Monday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index lost nine points to close at 2,197.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, Sydney, Taipei and Wellington. Markets were lower in Bombay and Manila.
In afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 109.78 yen, up 0.56 yen from the same time Monday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold fell two dollars and 20 cents to close at 437 dollars, 55 cents an ounce.
