Asian stock markets closed mixed Thursday.
Tokyo's Nikkei index lost three points to finish at 11,787. On Wednesday the Nikkei gained 25 points.
Hong Kong's Hang Seng index gained 17 points to finish at 14,620. The Hang Seng gained 35 points on Wednesday.
In the region's other big market, Singapore, the Straits Times index rose two points to close at 2,311.
Elsewhere, share prices were higher in Sydney, Seoul, Manila and Jakarta. Markets were lower in Shanghai, Taipei, Bombay, Kuala Lumpur, Wellington and Bangkok.
In late afternoon Tokyo currency trading, the dollar was selling at 112.38 yen, down 0.69 yen from the same time Wednesday.
In Hong Kong, the price of gold rose $2.90 cents to close at $423.85 an ounce.
