Italian officials have held a first extradition hearing for one of the suspects in last week's failed London bombings -- while police investigate the route of the suspect's flight to Italy.
A lawyer for Osman Hussain, the British citizen of East African descent, said the hearing on a British extradition request took place today-Saturday in Rome. There are few details about the proceedings.
Police arrested Mr. Hussain Friday on suspicion he had planted one of the four bombs that failed to detonate on London's transit system on July 21st.
Italian Interior Minister Giuseppe Pisanu says police are conducting searches in a least 15 locations in Rome and other cities -- adding that the suspect had contacts in the Ethiopian and Eritrean immigrant communities.
