Bangladesh says it will agree in principle to a tri-nation gas pipeline running from Burma through Bangladesh into India.
Bangladesh's Finance Minister Saifur Rahman made the move during a meeting with visiting Indian Foreign Minister Natwar Singh in Dhaka on Saturday.
But Mr. Rahman asked for reciprocal response from India to facilitate his country's trade with Nepal and Bhutan. The French news agency quotes Mr. Rahman as telling reporters after the meeting that the trade concession issues must still be worked out.
In past months, Bangladesh has demanded a trade corridor with Nepal and reduction of a trade imbalance with India in exchange for allowing the pipeline to run through its territory.
