Burma's military junta has vowed to continue implementing its so-called roadmap to democracy.
After a meeting with Burma's ruling generals Thursday, visiting Thai Foreign Minister Kantathi Suphamongkhon said the military leaders were united in their commitment to make democratic reforms.
The leaders spoke about reconvening Burma's national convention, and told Mr. Kantathi next year is a critical period for drafting a constitution and holding a national referendum.
Mr. Kantathi said the Burmese government also agreed to Thailand's proposal that the Joint Boundary Committee reconvene in two months.
Thailand wants Burmese migrants working in western Thai provinces to return home and obtain proper identification cards and passports before returning to work in the kingdom.
