Malaysian Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar will make a two-day visit to Burma on Monday.
Reports from Kuala Lumpur say Mr. Albar is expected to meet with Burmese military leaders to discuss bilateral trade issues and problems between Burma and the Association of South East Asian Nations-ASEAN.
In an interview with a Malaysian news agency, Mister Albar said that he plans to improve relations between the two countries. He insisted that there are no plans to discuss the release of democratic leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
Malaysia currently holds the rotating chairmanship of the ASEAN.
