Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has admitted his country had been a supplier of arms to militants in Asia.
Hun Sen made the admission Friday while addressing a group of diplomats and business leaders in Phnom Penh.
He said arms had been smuggled to the Tamil Tigers in Sri Lanka and to Karen National Union rebels in Burma. The Prime Minister also said people in Cambodia had supplied arms to the Philippines, which has communist and Muslim-separatist insurgents.
The dates and details of the smuggling operations are not available. He told the group that Cambodian officials plan to increase security along the country's borders to fight arms and drugs smuggling.
