VP Cheney's Chief of Staff Indicted in CIA Leak Case

Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, Lewis Libby, has been indicted on a total of five counts of perjury, obstruction of justice and making false statements.

A U.S. federal grand jury returned the indictments Friday, after a nearly two-year investigation into whether a White House official illegally disclosed the identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame in 2003.

Special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald has been investigating whether someone in the White House illegally disclosed the identity of Ms. Plame.

Her husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, says officials exposed his wife's identity to punish him for saying the Bush administration manipulated intelligence to justify the Iraq war.
