President Bush has expressed concern about the human rights situation in Burma in discussions with Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
The two leaders met in Busan, South Korea on Thursday, ahead of the Asia-Pacific summit.
A senior White House official says Mr. Bush will also bring up the issue of Burma at the main summit meeting Friday.
In Japan Wednesday, Mr. Bush said the Burmese government's repressive policies have turned a country rich in human talent and natural resources into a place where millions struggle to stay alive.
The Burmese government has not responded to Mr. Bush's remarks.
