Burma's military government has officially confirmed that it has extended opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's house arrest by six months.
Information Minister Kyaw Hsan spoke to reporters Saturday in Rangoon.
Some earlier news reports had said the extension was for one year. Government officials visited the 60-year-old Nobel peace laureate at her Rangoon home last Sunday and informed her of the extension.
