Reports from Burma say two small explosions have occurred northeast of Rangoon.
The blasts occurred late Tuesday in Begu township, but no casualties have been reported. Authorities say the cause of the explosions is under investigation.
The incident came just hours before the military government marked the 58th anniversary today-Wednesday of the country's independence from Britain.
Last year, Burma freed more than five thousand prisoners to mark the holiday.
