Iraqi police say a U.S. journalist has been kidnapped and her translator killed in the capital, Baghdad.
Authorities say the American journalist , who was not identified was on her way to a meeting with a Sunni Arab leader today-Saturday when her car was stopped by gunmen in the Adel district of west Baghdad.
There has been a spate of kidnappings of Westerners in Iraq over the past few months. Four Christian peace activists are still being held captive.
In another development today, Iraqi police say a suicide car bomb hit a passing Iraqi police patrol in southeast Baghdad, wounding at least nine people.
