Burma's ruling military has shuffled commanders controlling forces around the capital of Rangoon.
Lieutenant General Myint Swe has left his post as chief of the Rangoon Command to head up special operations around the capital and will remain in his post as chief of military security affairs.
Brigadier General Hla Htay Win will replace Myint Swe.
The reassignments are not expected to usher in political change, but are seen by analysts as a move by Senior General Than Shwe, Burma's top general, to tighten his grip on power.
Than Shwe has reshuffled top commanders a number of times since ousting prime minister Khin Nyunt in October of 2004.
