Burma's official media say a bomb exploded at a police station in a town north of Rangoon earlier this week.
The New Light of Myanmar says the owner of a store in Pyu took the package to the police station after it was left outside his shop. The paper says police put it in a safe room, where it exploded an hour later.
No one was injured by the blast. Authorities say a 13-year-old boy told them he was paid by an unknown man to deliver the package to the store.
Burmese officials say they are investigating what the newspaper called "destructive elements" in society.
